St. Patrick's Day

Last night Auntie Eryn, her friend Cortney, and the boys went looking for leprechauns. I guess Luke had heard about them at school so he wanted to catch one for Kayden today, since it was his birthday! Love it. They were told they eat potatoes so they left some out and this is what they found this morning. They were SO excited! All I have to say is I hope Auntie Eryn arrives promptly EVERY March 16th in the evening!

Kayden

Kayden came over and played in the pool for a bit today. Funny how a cold pool alone doesn't look like much fun, but when you add some friends anything is possible! We love you buddy!

100 Mile Club

Luke and I earned our 100 Mile Club shirts today! We reached our first goal of 25 miles. The best part about this is that this is something Luke and I do together. He never ditches me to run off with his friends and will even stick by my side if I say I want to go just one more lap! I enjoy chatting with him and holding his hand. I'm one lucky mom. I know this time is short lived. I only hope he remembers how I will always be here to hold his hand, to walk, and talk. I love you Lukie!

Snippets of last week....

Kai had an upper GI test. Drinking barium was a DISASTER! The test came back inconclusive. Wonder why.

Kai and Reagan started swim lessons. The first 15 minutes were great. The last were not. Is anything going to be easy with this kiddo? I swear if it isn't his idea it ain't getting done.

Bill had out patient knee surgery on his meniscus. He did so well! They did comment on how hairy he was when it came time to shave his knee in preparation! Ha.

Last Saturday was Opening Day for Little League. Luke is on the Rookie Dodgers and I am the Team Mom. Scary. Now I know why I LOVE having a wonderful room mom. This is hard work.

My sweet niece Kaitlyn finally was able to be removed from the ventilator yesterday. It has been since Feb. 8th. Since then she is now having some complications and has to be put back on. Please continue to pray for her.

We took a break from life and hit the beach yesterday. Even though it was only 3 hours it was nice to relax in the sun. Both boys swam in the ocean in spite of the water being FREEZING cold!

Gilbert is 86!

Bill's dad, Gilbert, turned 86 this past week! He is hanging in there. As anyone can imagine his heart is broken and some days are better than others. Here Bill took him to get a haircut and shave. Doesn't he look great! The barber Joe has been giving them their haircuts since Bill was a little boy. Joe even retired, but said he got bored so he came back to work.

Lupe's Funeral

This past Friday, March 2nd, we laid Lupe to rest at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside. About 90 family and friends came to share in her celebration of life. Corinne gave a beautiful speech about her that, even with humor, brought us all to tears. Bill said he will miss his one-on-one time he had with his mom doing absolutely nothing! Just spending time together. Kai said he will miss riding his bike to Grandma's house (she only lives a block or so from us.) He also was never shy about kissing and hugging on her before we left our visits with her. Luke and Grandma seemed to share a special bond over Jesus. From a very young age she would ask him about Sunday School and what he learned. She gave him several years ago her nativity scene. She always said she wanted him to have it. Right before she passed away Luke asked if he could have a snow globe that held a mission in it with a cross. He told me that he was going to dump it over and make a wish. I suggested a prayer. He said he prayed he would see Grandma one more time (before she went to be with Jesus) and indeed he did. I will personally always remember how Lupe would ask me to come close to her, as if to tell me a secret. It was then that she would say something like, "Gilbert wants me to make him homemade tortillas!" My favorite part was when she would fan her hand in the air and say, "DREAMER!" She cracked me up. We all miss her so much. She was one special wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
